THE ROLE OF BUDGETING IN ACHIEVING FINANCIAL GOALS
The objectives of this research are to: (1) analyze the role of budgeting in achieving financial goals, (2) identify key budgeting practices that support financial goal attainment, and (3) evaluate the impact of budgeting on financial success. A survey design was chosen to gather data from financial managers and strategic planners. Using Taro Yamane's formula, a sample size of 378 participants from corporate organizations in Abuja was determined, ensuring comprehensive insights. The corporate sector was chosen for its structured financial goal-setting processes and potential for budgeting impact. The reliability coefficient score of the survey was 0.87. Findings indicate that effective budgeting is crucial in achieving financial goals by providing clear financial targets, improving resource allocation, and enhancing financial predictability. Recommendations include integrating financial goal-setting processes with budgeting cycles, providing training on effective budgeting techniques, and continuously monitoring and adjusting budgets to ensure alignment with financial goals.
